I don’t know about you, but the hardest part of living a healthy lifestyle for me, is not picking up weights at the gym or pressing start on the treadmill, but it’s saying no to the carbs and sweets that hide away in the pantry. Mindful eating is so important, but I will admit sometimes, I will eat when I’m bored or watching tv when I am not actually hungry or on other days I will forget to eat at all.

I think the battle between me and food is definitely something I am always going to be working on and I know that one thing will not fix everyone’s problems, but something that has really helped me lately to eat well and feel good that I wanted to share with you all are homemade smoothies.

I was never one to like fruit growing up; in fact I think I would only eat it when in popsicle form . . . oops. But lately, I have come to realize all the benefits that eating fruit has, including providing antioxidants, improving digestion, and boosting immunity. So without further ado, here are some of the quick, cheap, and healthy smoothie recipes.

Strawberry & Mango

Freshly cut strawberries
Chunks of Mango
Coconut Water
Ice

All fruits are rich in antioxidants, but strawberries especially are known for regulating blood sugar, lowering chances of a stroke, and decreasing blood pressure. Mango improves eyesight, heart health, and improves skin and hair. The coconut water not only helps blend the fruits together, but helps rehydrate your body with lots of potassium and cytokinines, which have anti aging properties. Yay.

Yellow Mellow

Mango
Pineapple
Peach
Orange Juice
Ice

These fruits go so well together. The pineapple Eases digestion, suppresses inflammation, which for me who just got my wisdom teeth out last week, was a plus. Peaches protect your skin as well. The orange juice can be substituted with coconut water if desired.

Strawberry Banana

Bananas
Hemp Seed

A classic combination of strawberry and banana always satisfies. The hemp seeds are super healthy providing fiber, unsaturated fats, and protein that will make you feel full. Just make sure to not overdo the hemp or it will overpower the drink.

Grab a high power blender and some of your favorite fruits to create your own that are sure to taste good and keep you full this summer!
